The Chamber Ambassador's and guest were all treated to a wonderful lunch at their ribbon cutting at The Home Instead Senior Care.

Ribbon Cutting - Dan-D-Pak

Half a dozen Ambassadors were feted with lunch at the Grand Opening of Dan-D-Pak at 2628 S. Cherry Ave., just off Highway 41 at the corner of Jensen & Cherry. Dan-D-Pak offers a variety of packaged nuts and fruits from the valley, as well as specialty items like granola, an assortment of trail mixes, yogurt pretzels and dried fruits. In short, Dan-D-Pak is a snack food headquarters, both for the traveler passing by on Highways 99 & 41, and for the local who wants to purchase gifts or treats for a special event.

The business is international with headquarters in Vancouver, Canada, and offices located in Hong Kong and other Asian cities. The foray into the Fresno market is the first in California. In each location, the company attempts to use local produce in order to support the farmers and producers in the area. Both wholesale and retail purchases are available in the large packing and shipping warehouse attached to the small retail store at the Cherry Avenue address.

The Fresno Chamber Ambassadors attended the ribbon cutting last month for the new Mayfair Self Storage, which opened April 1, 2011 in the historic post war Mayfair area of Fresno. In keeping with their historic surroundings, Mayfair Self Storage is not your average “mini-storage”. They have made every effort to keep the building historically accurate and worked tirelessly to make the neighborhood an attractive place to live, work and visit. Mayfair Self Storage has a history of being many different things. It was once not only part of the shopping center, but a jewelry store, drive-in theater, hamburger joint and real estate office. Now it stands again, in its former “art deco” glory. Even the antique clock on the tower has been restored to look as it once did decades ago.

Chamber Ambassadors attended on September 22nd a ribbon cutting, reception and tour of the newly remodeled and re-landscaped Maple Grove Apartment Homes at 2255 S. Maple Ave. Owned by San Mar Properties, Inc., Maple Grove boasts 120 one, two and three-bedroom units in a beautiful park-like setting, with a swimming pool, covered parking, twenty-four hour security, and on site laundry. Formerly called Orchard Square, San Mar acquired the property two years ago and changed the name and the look. Angel Martin and her crew treated the Ambassadors to a tour of one of the model apartments, and treated us to refreshments. We were all impressed by the design of the apartments, the beauty of the grounds, and the friendliness of the staff.
Congratulations to San Mar, to Angel, and to the entire team. We wish you all the best as new members of the Chamber and contributors to our Community.

On Saturday, September 10th, the Fresno Chamber Ambassadors helped celebrate the new ownership of L.A. Boxing located at 1504 East Champlain Drive in Fresno. The morning was filled with enthusiasm and good wishes. Good Times Entertainment kept the energy going with a great mix of music. It was clear to every visitor that L.A. Boxing is different from the traditional gym. Though one can take in aerobic exercises, the fighting training is the centerpiece of this gym. L.A. Boxing offers many different classes to people of all ages and all levels of experience. It offers a classic boxing, kickboxing and mixed martial arts experience, complete with 16-ounce gloves and 150-pound punching bags for its members. The atmosphere is competitive, where professional fighters train alongside beginners looking for a stimulating aerobic experience. For those with interest, L.A. Ribbon Cutting - Mirelez Wellness Dental

Nearly a dozen Ambassadors attended the ribbon cutting for the Mirelez Wellness Dental Office at 5492 N. Palm on Friday, August 26th. Dr. Art Mirelez has been practicing in Fresno for nine years, with three years at this location. His practice focuses on family dentistry, from children age two and up, to adults. Specialties include implants, cosmetic dentistry and sedation. The word “wellness” is used intentionally. Dr. Mirelez says there is a close link between the health of the teeth and the health of the body so that improving one improves the other.

Dr. Mirelez and his staff cordially welcomed the Ambassadors and gave all who were interested a tour of their office. In addition, all Ambassadors received a dental kit, including toothbrush, toothpaste and floss. No candy or cookies, but one probably should not expect that from a dentist.

Fresno Chamber of Commerce July Membership Mixer was hosted by The Fresno Grizzlies Baseball Club this past Thursday on July 21 from 5-7 pm in the Cru Club at Chukchansi Park in Downtown Fresno. Acting as 'Head Coach' for the event was Matt Ruiz, Corporate Sales for the Grizzlies, who ensured that the 100 or so guests be well accommodated with amazing hor'derves and drinks, including Cru Wines. Brian McGrath - Burrito Challenge

During the Ambassador's outing to the Fresno Grizzlies game on July 7th, Brian McGrath from Belfor was challenged to eat a 5 pound burrito in one inning! Sal's Mexican Restaurant sponsored the eating contest to see who could eat all of the burrito. Brian had 18 minutes to finish the entire burrito! He kept a good pace as the inning continued, but not really knowing how much time he had as an inning could go really quick or really slow! Luckily for Brian, he was able to finish it! Brian won two tickets and food vouchers to a Giants game! Congratulations Brian!! We hope you didn't feel too bad afterwards!

Ambassador's Social Family Night

On July 7th, the Fresno Chamber Ambassador Social Committee put together an outing to a Fresno Grizzlies game. A bunch of the Ambassadors came out with family and friends to enjoy the game. Unfortunately, the Grizzlies lost that night, however we all had a great time! We got first class treatment and were up in the CRU Club. With it being 106 degrees that day, it was very nice to be in an air conditioned room. We also enjoyed Chick-Fil-A sandwiches provided by Sharon Essick. We would like to thank Sharon for the wonderful sandwiches and also Jerry James from the Grizzlies and Kristin Groth for donated all of our tickets!

On Thursday, April 21st the Greater Fresno Area Chamber of Commerce hosted the Business After Hours event, Fresno’s Premiere Business Trade Show. It was held in the beautiful Radisson Hotel Conference Center in downtown Fresno.
Over 50 local businesses offering an array of services from banking, food, beverage, finance, entertainment and non-profit agencies, set up booths to showcase their products and services. It was an amazing networking event that was sure to please those who attended for their business or personal needs. In addition to enjoying delicious food and drinks, you also had the chance to win one of many fabulous raffle prizes provided by the vendors…just another incentive for attending!

Dr. Helm is a highly respected and well known neurologist in the valley and works closely with San Joaquin Valley Rehabilitation Hospital which Balance & Dizziness Center is a part of. The Fresno Chamber Ambassadors had a great time providing a ribbon cutting for Hometown Buffet located at 3617 West Shaw Ave. There was a great turnout for their re-grand opening on Saturday, March 19th. They closed off the front of the restaurant for some fun! They had the Girl Scouts out selling cookies along with some games and prizes for the kids to play along with and a DJ to play music. The Regional Manager came out and did a nice ceremony to get things started. Ron Stumph a fellow Ambassador remembers when they originally opened and had a Ribbon cutting about 8 years ago. Ribbon Cutting Fitness Fresno

February 1st marked the One year Anniversary to Fitness Fresno! The owners Stephanie Wait and Cheryl Hancock were very excited that they have been there for one year! They bought it after Gold's Gym went out of business and opened their doors 4 days later! They both come from teaching backgrounds and didn't know each other until a year and a half ago. They are slowly but surely making improvements to the gym for their clients. They have recovered a lot of the old Gold's members, but also have gained some new members as well. They mentioned that everyone is very friendly, they are like one big happy family. They all help each other out and everyone knows everyone else by their name.

Cheryl mentioned that there is something for everyone. You can choose which kind of package you would like. They range from paying yearly, monthly, weekly or daily if you wanted. No contracts and a discount for Chamber members!

Welcome Buffalo Wild Wings

Buffalo Wild Wings opened up it's 735th store today in Fresno, CA! The restaurant has been in the works for a while now with everyone waiting for it to open. Now the wait is over! Some people even waiting two days in front of the door to be the first one in. Why.....the first 100 people received FREE wings for a year! General Manager, Randy Hurst, invited the Fresno Chamber Ambassadors over to do a Ribbon Cutting this morning before they opened their doors at 10:00 am. They invited us to stay and try some of their wonderful wings with 14 different sauces to choose from, 62 TV's to watch, full bar and a triva games to play while we waited for our food. They hired a total of 158 employees, and they are all very excited to finally be open! One of our own, Brian McGrath, was the first customer on opening day to do the Blazin
Challenge. He had to eat 12 traditional wings with their hottest sauce in under 6 minutes with no napkins and no water. He did it in 2 minutes and 59 seconds! He won a t-shirt, a picture on the wall and an ulcer! Congratulations Brian!

The Fresno Chamber’s first Mixer set the bar high for 2011 with the help of Belfor Property Restoration!
There was a great turnout of well over 50 people to the Fresno Chamber Mixer at Belfor Property Restoration last Thursday night. Both members and quite a few non-members attended this first mixer of the year.
Some came to catch up with old friends. Some came to meet new ones. And everyone was “getting their network on” while dining on delicious foods and deserts from both International Catering and Chick-Fil-A. Belfor Property Restoration even had singer serenade the crowd with his golden voice and gave away prizes to those that dropped a business card in the basket. Fun was had by all!
The atmosphere was equally entertaining and enthusiastic as it seemed everyone was excited about this new year and ready to take it on with gusto.
Not only does Belfor help out people in desperate situations, they also had ARF (Animal Rescue of Fresno) in attendance to collect pet food and donations to help support animals in need.

It’s a new year and the Fresno Chamber Ambassador committee is already off to a fast start. With our first meeting already held on January 5th we welcomed Shawna Speake with Valley Business Bank and Marina Haro with Eye-Q-Vision Center to a second term as Co-Chairs to the Ambassador committee. It was also announced with pride that Lynnette Schetselaar of American Tax Credits Group not only won the Ambassadors Mark Fletcher award for having attended the most functions but she will be honored at the Fresno Chamber of Commerce Annual Installation Dinner as our 2010 Ambassador of the year! This is a prestigious award is given to an Ambassador who has shown outstanding commitment to the Fresno Chamber of Commerce and the Business Community. This year will mark the fourth consecutive year that this award is given. The 2007 recipient was Kristin Valenzuela-Groth of KMJ Radio/Peak Broadcasting. In 2008 and 2009 the recipient was Hannah DeGroot of Realty Concepts and now in 2010 to Lynnette Schetselaar of American Tax Credits.

The first meeting of the year had a full room with not a seat left in the house. Reports were heard from our Social Committee, Membership Committee and Internet Marketing Committee. We also had five new guests in attendance. Yes the Ambassadors are off to a quick start and we say Hold on to your briefcase because 2011 is looking great!

The Fresno Chamber Ambassadors are an absolutely fantastic group of business professionals. Not only do we attend ribbon cuttings, grand openings, grounds breaking ceremonies, monthly mixers and, on occasion, press releases, but we foster a healthy business relationship within the group and the Chamber community at large. KJWL/KYNO Studios December Fresno Chamber Mixer

John Ostlund and the staff of KJWL/KYNO Studios hosted the Fresno Chamber December mixer on Thursday, Dec. 16th. The historic building in the heart of Downtown Fresno’s up and coming Art District was the perfect setting for a holiday time gathering, as the décor is always very artistic since it is also an art gallery. The architecture and ambience is very unique. They offered hand passed hors d’oeuvres and plenty of beverages. As usual, the festivities included lots of networking and raffle prizes. They offered a tour of the studios to show off the fantastic and unique features of the building and its architecture.
The building includes an art gallery that is a beautiful space featuring exceptional San Joaquin Valley artists. They are always looking for artists to feature for shows. The large walls favor contemporary, abstract and large-format artworks (with the occasional exception).

During Art Hop Fresno (The first Thursday of every month,) they also feature a musical performer or group on stage in the 2000 sq. ft. gallery. The Artist is interviewed live on KYNO-1300 radio that night and the musical group is broadcast live over the airwaves and internationally over the internet on K-JEWEL radio.

KJWL is a commercial radio station located in Fresno, California, broadcasting on 99.3 FM. KJWL aired an adult standards music format for many years in the Fresno market before evolving to a gold based Adult Contemporary format. The station is branded as "K-Jewel".
In 2008, the KYNO station was purchased by John Ostlund, owner of FM station KJWL. The new ownership changed to a politically conservative news/talk format (one of five such formats in the region) on September 1, 2008, starting with a lineup featuring nationally syndicated talk show hosts, such as Bill O'Reilly, Dennis Miller, Dr. Laura, Don Imus and Larry King Live.

Ribbon Cutting Muscular Dystrophy Association

The Fresno Chamber Ambassadors had the distinct privilege of having a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) at their new location at Community Medical Center in Downtown Fresno.

On Friday, December 3rd, MDA held a press conference and ribbon cutting ceremony. They had several keynote speakers, and Dr. Jeffery Rosenfeld was named as the clinical director of the facility.

The press conference had mentioned that most of their patients in the nearby area had previously had to travel to the Bay Area, or to Southern California for treatment. Not only was this inconvenient, but also, patients with muscular dystrophy should not have to travel this far for treatment. This new facility is a dream come true for many families.

MDA provided a delicious breakfast for the occasion, as well as a guided tour of their new facility. The Fresno Chamber would like to wish Dr. Rosenfeld and his team the best of luck in their new clinic and welcome them to the chamber.

Fresno Chamber Mixer at Costco

The Fresno Chamber held its latest Chamber Mixer at the Costco Wholesale Center on 4500 W. Shaw Location, where business professionals mixed, mingled, and dined on Costco’s finest delicacies. Costco was very generous, as they gave away tons of raffles every 10 minutes. The raffles included Costco bags full of generous prizes, a beautiful flower bouquet donated from Bay Area Bouquet, and a getaway destination to the wonderful Wonder Valley Resort.

Everyone had a great time. Costco is a great place, whether they are throwing a wonderful Chamber Mixer, or to stop and shop to buy whatever you need for you and your family. Costco is a wholesale store. They sell brand name and private labels. Since Costco sells in bulk, they are able to sell at a significantly lower rate than most grocery or retail stores. Can you say “wow”? The Fresno Chamber Ambassadors did on Tuesday November 9th at the ribbon cutting for Innovation Commercial Flooring! Wayne and Vickie Goudreau opened their business and their hearts to us as we celebrated their Fresno Chamber membership with a ribbon cutting. The Goudreau’s opened Innovation Commercial Flooring in February of 2009 after Floor Tec, Inc. was purchased by an investor and restructured. This restructuring opened the door for the Goudreau’s to come to the Central Valley and build a business of their own. Wayne and Vickie gave the Ambassador’s a grand tour of their business with a notable new sign which was contracted by another Fresno Chamber member A-Plus Signs. They had a variety of examples of carpet inlays that displayed logos, water proof carpet, get the dirt of your feet carpet before you step on the real carpet and the list goes on. In fact I stood there thinking of how many restaurants could use their carpet…………and schools, and health facilities. The list goes on. The wow factor had set in and I haven’t even mentioned the bathrooms yet with the spray on surfacing, but wait there’s more! Vickie had a plethora of homemade goodies including but not limited to pumpkin bread, rum bread, poppy seed bread and her daughter’s very famous territory building homemade chocolate chip cookies. The coffee was strong, just the way I like it and the goodies were fantastic, however my favorite part was being in the company of such wonderful community minded business people! Ribbon Cutting Rulison Collision Center Inc.

For three generations, the Rulison Family has been serving the Central Valley with its professional full service auto collision and paint repairs. Rulison opened its doors back in 1955, but the family has since moved, to its new location at 4025 W. Ashcroft Ave, near the corner of Shaw and Brawley.

The Chamber was able to tour the facility during the ribbon cutting, where we saw cars being prepped for painting and undergoing repairs. Fresno Chamber Mixer at Fairwinds

The Fresno Chamber of Commerce had the pleasure of having their October mixer at the Fairwinds located on Fort Washington near Friant. It's much much more then a retirement home, it's like a 5 star resort! We all enjoyed a wonderful gourmet food spread prepared by the head Chef which included some wonderful desserts! Anyone who wanted one go, enjoyed a tour to one of the model apartments. They were very spacious with a nice homey feel.

The Fairwinds have many activities for the residents to enjoy. They don't have to leave if they don't want to, and I couldn't imagine why they would want to. They have a bistro and restaurant that is open to the public. Many options for rooms. Some of their services include weekly housekeeping, transportation, automobile services, room service, move-in coordination, recreational programs, personal laundry, personal shopping, pet care, massage therapy, gym membership and morning wake up calls and that is just some of what they do! Fresno Monster's Ribbon Cutting

On October 20th, the Fresno Chamber Ambassador’s had the distinct privilege to join the Fresno Monster coaches and players on the ice…literally. The Fresno Monster’s had their ribbon cutting to join the Greater Area Fresno Chamber of Commerce, where all the action takes place!

There was nothing like entering into Selland Arena, and watching the young players on the ice. The players range in age from 17-20 years old. The young men were so friendly and nice, but it is quite a different story watching them playing on the ice head to head with an opposing team.

We met with Head Coach, Eric Ballard, and Assistant Coach, Mike Perkins. The Monster’s just recently returned from a long 20 day traveling game series. They are back in Fresno now this weekend for their first home game. They are looking for great support from the community to keep hockey going strong in Fresno, and keep the love of the game in our youth. The Fresno Monsters season passes are one of the most affordable, and family friendly entertainment packages there are to find in all of Fresno.

Coach Ballard is originally from Minnesota, but is now residing in Fresno. The Fresno Monsters are in the Western States Hockey League. They have 57 games this season, 27 home games, and 30 away. The players come from all over to play for the Monsters. They span from all over the U.S., as well as Canada, and even come as far as Sweden. They are passionate about the game, and hope for a bright future.

The Monsters had delicious baked items for the Ambassadors, as we socialized with the players and staff. The team was so generous, as to give each of the visiting ambassadors a free ticket for this week’s opening weekend game! They also gave me personally an autographed hockey stick, signed by each of the Fresno Monsters, which I will cherish forever.

We were treated to lunch and an extensive tour of the facilities which included a full size Gym, Teen Room, Library, Computer Room, and Art Room besides a huge Game Room and Meeting Room. The Ambassadors of the Fresno Chamber of Commerce met Manager Pedro Gomez & many of their sales staff.

As I spoke with Pedro it was apparent that he had a passion for customer service. His customers and the relationships that he & his staff create with them come first. The Fresno Chamber Ambassadors were “in the money” Thursday October 14th at Security First Bank. The Ambassadors gathered at the bank to celebrate their new location at 663 West Nees Ave Fresno CA 93711.

This week, the Chamber Ambassadors had the opportunity to stand next to the larger than life Michelin Tire Man, at the Big-O Tire Grand Opening Celebration, and ribbon cutting. The company has been in business for some time, on Blackstone Avenue, but they went from being a franchised company, to now corporately owned.

We met with David Martinez, the manager of the store, and several of his employees. Immediately following the ribbon cutting, David handed out coupons to the chamber ambassadors, as well as pens, Big-O magnets, and other goodies.

Rejuvimed Ribbon Cutting

The Official Grand Opening of the new, bigger office of Rejuvimed Total Wellness and MedSpa took place on Sunday, October 10th, 2010. Attendants enjoyed complimentary appetizers, had the opportunity to meet the friendly Rejuvimed staff, and watched live demos of today’s most innovative "no surgery" age-defying cosmetic procedures. Lucky winners won over $3,000 worth of prizes towards services they can immediately use.

The Ambassadors of the Fresno Chamber of Commerce met Dr. Cynthia Lopez, the owner and head physician of Rejuvimed Total Wellness and MedSpa.

Dr. Lopez' quest for the fountain of youth started after she graduated from medicine in 1982. She bought all kinds of creams and potions - cheap and expensive, believing that these will at least retard aging if not prevent it. She even engaged in regular physical activity from salsa dancing, swimming and martial arts to prevent the overall aging process of her body. She did all things possible that she can on her own without resorting to cosmetic surgery.

When Dr. Lopez reached 50, she realized that the creams and potions she used for years could not help anymore the older looking, worn-out face staring at her in the mirror. Believing that cosmetic surgery will simply just stretch out the old carpet overlying her face, she embarked on a long journey to find the fountain of youth.

The Luau theme was fun; there was a variety of gourmet food made by their very own Marcella Gilbert with the Homewood Suites. Ribbon Cutting at Optimal Hospice Care

Optimal Hospice Care joined the Greater Area Fresno Chamber of Commerce yesterday to celebrate the move to their new office with an official ribbon cutting. Optimal Hospice has been a member of the Fresno Chamber for several years. They were joined by members and ambassadors from the Chamber, many people in the community they work with, their Medical Director, co-workers from the Fresno and Visalia office, their CEO, and other visitors from their corporate office in Bakersfield.

The event began with the Chaplain Philip Ensley giving a beautiful opening prayer commencing the occasion. After the ribbon cutting, everyone was able to go inside and mingle and dine on delicious food, watch a slide show that showcased all of the workers, and pick up information about their company.

Hospice is a special way of caring for the terminally ill, and addresses the unique needs of dying patients and their families. As an avid golfer, I was very excited to learn about National University's Golf academy program and the state of the art swing lab. The Golf Academy program is designed to help you achieve a career in the golf industry. The coursework in this program includes management, playing proficiency, and the importance of wellness and peak performance. Upon completion of the program you will have earned an Associates of Arts degree with a concentration in Professional Golf Management.
Now, if you are just looking to improve your golf game you can sign up for the Golf Clinic and Player Development Program. By enrolling in one of the Golf Clinic programs you get 1-on-1 sessions in the National University Golf Academy's state of the art swing lab working with the 3-D Motion Reality System. The swing lab is the first of its kind for the Central Valley. This system looks at every aspect of your swing and compares it to the top swings on the PGA Tour. Eggs & Issues with Congressman Radanovich & State Senator Jeff Denham

The Piccadilly Inn Airport was full to capacity today,with those eager to hear the departing words of the beloved Congressman George Radanovich,and his likely successor, State Senator, Jeff Denham. They spoke at the "Eggs and Issues Breakfast" put together by the Greater Fresno Area Chamber of Commerce, in association with Piccadilly Inn Hotels and Comcast as the sponsors for the event.
Congressman Radanovich spoke of his 8- year term fondly, as well as his passion for the need for a reform for the Endangered Species Act, and how Democrats, Republicans, as well as key people such as Diane Feinstein all need to be on the same page concerning our water resources.
Congressman Radanovich then spoke about when he decided to leave office in December, he felt good about his choice for State Senator, Jeff Denham. He said Senator Denham is a great listener, supports agriculture, and is good for the Valley.
Senator Denham gave his remarks about working hard, and that he has a strong set of principles. He believes that it is critical that we not only have water storage, but a water solution. He believes that we must work together, and if we make a promise, we must stand by our promises.
The breakfast ended with a question and answer period, where everyone in the audience was able to ask the Congressman and Senator any questions they felt necessary. Thank you to the Fresno Area Chamber of Commerce, Piccadilly Inn Airport and Comcast, for putting on the "Eggs and Issues Breakfast". Fresno Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours

The Greater Fresno Area Chamber of Commerce hosted their "Business After Hours" event at the Park Place Plaza out at Palm and Nees on August 19th. The Chamber created a lovely ambiance, being held outdoors, under canopy tents. There were nearly 50 booths, and hundreds of visitors that came out to the event. Visitors were able to walk around to the vendor's booths and learn more about different companies, to network and socialize.
My company, American Tax-Credits Group, sponsored a table this year for the first time, and we had a wonderful time. Companies that sponsored booths gave away prizes. There were also beer and wine tasting tables, and free giveaways. There were local restaurants and companies that brought samples of their food. Some of the food that our company was able to enjoy was the Daily Grill, Sal's, Costco, International Catering, Spike N' Rail, and Marie Callender's. We were also able to visit my good friend, Shawna Speake's booth for Valley Business Bank. They had great information, handouts, and of course, excellent customer service.
My company and I had a great time, and it seems everyone else I saw did as well. I would like to thank the Greater Area Chamber of Commerce for putting on the Business After Hours event. 3rd Annual Fresno Chamber Golf Tournament

On Monday, June 28th the Fresno Chamber of Commerce hosted their 3rd Annual Golf Tournament. As an Ambassador I usually volunteer to help out during an event such as this but not this time. I was given the chance through my employer to participate as a golfer and there wasn't any way I was passing it up.
First of all, the tournament was held at San Joaquin Country Club which is a golf course that I have wanted to play for many years but have been unable to because it is a private course. Let me tell you, the golf course did not disappoint as it was in pristine condition with beautifully kept fairways and greens. I will admit that I am not the best golfer but there is always something about a beautiful golf course that seems to help your golf game. Okay, maybe it is just my imagination as it really didn't help my team win the tournament. However, I think the Fresno Chamber's Golf Tournament did provide other like me a great opportunity to play golf at a prestigious local golf course.
Secondly, the tournament entry included beverages, lunch, dinner, and opportunities to win prizes. The lunch consisted of your choice of tasty chicken or beef burritos, and a cookie for dessert. We were then treated to a nice pasta & wine dinner after our hard day on the course. As for prizes one of the ways that you could win was through a putting contest. There were a few holes set up on the practice green where the person with the lowest putting score won additional money. I thought I had a good chance at winning this contest but lost by one stroke. Oh well, maybe next year. There were also raffle tickets that you could purchase to win some great prizes. A live auction was also conducted during dinner which included things such as an iPad, hotel accommodations, and a dinner for ten prepared in your own home by a top local chef.
At the end of the day, it seemed like everyone who participated in the tournament had a great time and the event seemed to be a success for the Chamber. I will keep my fingers crossed in hopes that I can golf in next year's tournament. I think I'll start practicing now. FORE!

The Patio Place Ribbon Cutting

A new beginning has hit the streets of Fresno! Not only is the Patio Place full of great Patio furniture and accessories, they are also committed to the consumer. They are not happy until you are happy. The Patio Place, located at 8805 North Cedar Ave in the Vons Shopping Center at Cedar and Shepherd, had a ribbon cutting on July 22, 2010 and welcomed the Ambassadors with open arms. The Patio Place is a part of a larger operation, from owner Ron Bock. Ron owns two other stores in Palm Dessert. Being a long time Fresno native, graduating from McLane High School in 1970, he saw a need in Fresno for this type of patio furniture, fire pits and also a cushion factory which allows him to make custom-made cushions and sell replacements. All fabrics are washable fabrics. The hours of operation are Monday - Wednesday 10-5, Thursday and Friday 10-7, Saturday 10-5 and Sunday 12-5. Ribbon Cutting for Sebring West

Sebring West Automotive Center began by two friends with little pocket money, and a dream. Today, it is one of the largest independent service and parts facilities in the entire Central Valley.
Sebring West is owned by Tony Pasco. You will find him there on site with 45 of his friendly staff to assist you with all of your automotive needs. Fresno Chamber Mixer at Rabobank

Thursday July 15th the Fresno Chamber Ambassadors went to the monthly Chamber mixer hosted by Rabobank. There was a good turn out with business people from all over the community meeting and greeting. There were hors d' oeuvres and beverages placed throughout the room which encouraged people to walk around. While I did my walking around I ran into Peter Lang - Social Media Strategist, Al Solis - Sol Development Associates, Hilary Mathias - MC Solutions, Jane Olvera Quebe - JP Marketing, Bud Solomon - Vernon Promotional Products and Keegan Larson - Uhuru Network just to name a few. It was a fun crowd and there was plenty of good networking and conversation to go around. The highlight for me was talking with John DeRuiter - Regional Manager with Rabobank. He was a pleasure to converse with and gave me lots of information on one of Rabobank's trademarks, agribusiness. Wells Fargo grand opening for new Fig Garden location

Friday July 9th, Wells Fargo opened a new branch right next to Fig Garden Village and the Fresno Chamber Ambassadors were there to welcome them with a ribbon cutting. Wells Fargo has been around since 1852 and just recently merged with Wachovia. Together they have experience and a reputation you can trust to help you reach your financial goals.

Wells Fargo's big grand opening was fun for everyone! People won prizes by spinning a wheel. Other features were free food and a ride on a Wells Fargo original stage coach with horses!

Tim Rios, Wells Fargo Community Manager, also presented two $10,000 donation checks to great non profit organizations here in Fresno. The first one was presented to Dan DeSantis, CEO of the Fresno Regional Foundation. This foundation serves California's Central San Joaquin Valley and works to improve lives in the community by encouraging philanthropy. The second check was presented to Janetta McGensy, Principal of Baird Middle School. It is a magnet school for grades 5-8. The school's focus is Technology, International Agribusiness and Foreign Language. The school draws students from all over Fresno Unified School District.

Tinkler Funeral Chapel and Crematory- June Mixer

On June 17th, Tinkler Funeral Chapel and Crematory hosted the June mixer and were very gracious and hospitable hosts who take pride in their facility and what they do. Tinkler Funeral Chapel & Crematory has been serving Central Valley families since 1919. Their building located at 475 North Broadway Street, was designated a historical building as was added to the local official roster of historical buildings on September 27, 1979. This unique facility has a lovely courtyard and this is where the Chamber Ambassadors, member and their guests relaxed, visited with one another and listened to the wonderful mariachi music provided by Roberto Lopez. Real Goods Solar celebrated a new addition to their building with the Fresno Chamber and a ribbon cutting! Real Goods Solar extended the warehouse for products and easy entry way and the local sales team for the Central Valley now has a bigger office to work in. Ambassadors learned a lot that day about solar energy. We started off viewing a video about the President & Founder, John Schaeffer on Fox Business News. The installation Dinner for the Greater Fresno Area Chamber of Commerce was held at the New Exhibit Hall the evening of January 29, 2010. Al Smith, the President and CEO of the Chamber officiated the black tie event. Rick Whitsell, President and CEO of Fresno First Bank was installed as the 2010 Chairman of the Board. Our very own Ambassador Hannah DeGroot of Realty Concepts was named the Ambassador of the year and her award was presented by Moe Bagunu, Senior Manager, Property Management, of Fashion Fair Mall. The new board of directors was sworn in by John Wallace.

Julie Luft, Specialty Manger, Fashion Fair Mall and Chamber Ambassador, recently had the opportunity to interview Rick Whitsell and Hannah DeGroot and ask them their thoughts about Chamber participation.

Rick: The responsibilities of the Chairman's position allow me the opportunity to make a contribution to our community.

Julie: What qualities have you admired in past Presidents?

Rick: They are all successful business leaders who continue to make a difference in our community.

Julie: Who do you look up to in the Chamber?

Rick: Al Smith, the President and CEO of the Chamber, for his leadership and accomplishments made over the last four plus years.

Rick: To continue to build a strong Chamber organization built on a stable financial foundation.

Julie: You participate wholeheartedly, what led you to the Chamber?

Hannah: What led me to the Fresno Chamber was their reputation for supporting business, great networking opportunities and the wonderful programs they have such as the Ambassador Program and Leadership Fresno.

Julie: Why do you think you received this award for the second time?

Hannah: The Ambassador of the Year Award is structured on a point system. All Ambassadors receive points for the various things they volunteer for like ribbon cuttings, ground breaking ceremonies, grand openings, monthly mixers and of course blogging for our new Ambassador blog which recounts these things. Julie: What qualities do you think are required to become a successful Ambassador?

Hannah: Showing up and making the most of the opportunities provided you by the Fresno Chamber. It's like anything, when you're out of site you are out of mind. I think we all need top of mind awareness. I love telling people what Realty Concepts Corporate Client Program along with our other services can do for them. As an Ambassador I am able to reach people in a way I would not have access to otherwise.

Julie: Who do you look up to in the Chamber?

Hannah: I have yet to meet anyone I do not look up to at the Chamber. There are so many people sharing their talents at the Chamber to make Fresno business blossom.

Julie: What motivates your participation?

Hannah: Meeting people, making connections and strengthening relationships I have made.

Julie: What is your focus for this year?

Hannah: My focus this year is to get more participation in the Ambassador Blog so the Internet Marketing Committee which I Chair can start a new project I think members will love.

The Fresno Greater Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassador committee was invited to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony by Health Net of California on May 19th. This was a Grand Opening of its Fresno Community Solution Center and the presentation of the Health Net community Solution Makers Awards. The awards ceremony recognized those who make a difference in the health and well being of the communities they serve. Fresno County Supervisor Henry Perea presented an award to Nichole Mosqueda-Curtin, Regional Director for the Central Valley Health Network, a consortium of 13 Federally Qualified Health Centers. The award was given for its service to a half a million patients annually in 21 counties. Fresno City Council member Cynthia Sterling presented an award to Yolanda Randles, Executive Director of the West Fresno Health Care Coalition for the organization's mission to provide health care opportunities for low-income residents, around 15,000 annually. Reyna Torres General Consul of Mexico presented an award to Tim Curlee, Chair of the Executive Committee of the Fresno County Children's Health Initiative, for its work in enrolling more than 10,000 children in health plans where they would otherwise not have access. This was a great opportunity for all present to see what Valley organizations are doing for the community. Mayor's Youth Job Fair

Nearly 1,300 youth turned out this year to the mayor's Youth Job Fair that was held at Fresno City on Saturday, May 1, 2010 for youth ages 16-24. It was hosted this year by the Greater Fresno Area Chamber of Commerce, Mayor Ashley Swearingen, Fresno City College, the State Center Consortium and Fresno ROP. Amazingly, the groups were able to put on the job fair on a zero budget. They were able to accomplish this through the help of volunteers and generous donations.

The job fair had 25 area representatives come set up booths for the job seekers to apply and interview that day. The job seekers were able to walk around to the individual booths and meet their potential employers.

City councilman Blong Xiong gave his sentiments concerning the youth in our community wanting to work and how the employers should support them. A big thank you went out to Mayor Ashley Swearingen for organizing the event, Dixie Wilson, the Programs & Committees Manager for the Greater Fresno Area Chamber of commerce, Darryl Du'Chene the Community Coordinator for the City of Fresno and May Beth Wynn the Interim Coordinator for the Employee Resource Center at Fresno City College.

Some of the employers that turned up this year to the Mayor's Youth Job Fair were Ann Taylor, Spherion, Buckle, The Air National Guard, Kaplan, Payless Shoe Source and Valley Children's Hospital. Good luck candidates. We hope that you find the job that you are looking for!

The Fresno Chamber Ambassadors gathered on April 22, 2010 to welcome Keller Williams Realty as new members to the Fresno Chamber of Commerce. Joanna Odabashian who is the team leader of the Fresno office gave us a tour of the office and we had the opportunity to mingle with other agents in the office while enjoying some delicious sandwiches, soft drinks and desserts. Everyone in the office was very nice and it was like visiting with family. The name Keller Williams is new to the Fresno Area. However, it is the third largest Real Estate Franchise in North America. Though the name is new to Fresno the ownership and many agents of KW Fresno were formerly of Westland Realty and Investments, Inc. and have been selling real estate for over 25 years in the Fresno Area.

Keller Williams has a lot of support for their agents and offers ongoing training. They want agents to succeed and grow their businesses as big as they desire. They also have weekly classes open to who ever would like to attend. Every Monday night at 5:15 pm they host a commercial contract strategy class for commercial agents and every Tuesday night at 5:15 pm they host a residential contract strategy class where anyone is welcome to drop in and learn. Ribbon Cutting Physiomotion Sports Medicine

On April 21, 2010 Physiomotion opened their door with a great Grand Opening. Physiomotion is a new Physical Therapy and Wellness Clinic started with the ideas of Jason and Kyndra Gray. Jason and Kyndra began their ideas in 2004 where they could provide a hands on and one on one clinic in a convenient location. While playing soccer in high school in Petaluma, California, Jason's interests were researching the benefits of physical therapy and wellness for good physical fitness. Kyndra on the other hand was working with children at Children's hospital while also studying the effects of physical therapy. Jason, PT, DPT, OS and Kyndra PT, MPT, GCS, both graduated Fresno State with Physical Therapy degrees. OS is Orthopedic Clinical Specialist and GCS is Geriatric Clinical Specialist. Now in 2010 their dream became a reality with the opening of Physiomotion at 4080 North Cedar. The 5000 square foot location is just that. With the open windows on all sides and therapy equipment everywhere, Physiomotion provides a relaxed environment to work our bodies towards wellness. Jason, who was actually recuperating from a recent knee surgery, gave tours throughout the facility, crutches and all. Ribbon Cutting Trauma Intervention Programs of Fresno County Inc.

On March 09, 2010, the Fresno Chamber of Commerce had the great honor of conducting a ribbon cutting for the Trauma Intervention Program (TIP) of Fresno, located at 911 H St. in Fresno CA. TIP is a non-profit organization made up of local volunteers that provides assistance to citizens in our community that are emotionally traumatized in emergency situations. TIP volunteers are called by police officers, firefighters, paramedics and hospital personnel and provide a variety of needed services such as support to family members and friends following a natural and unexpected death, victims of crime including rape, assault robbery and burglary, fire, and vehicle accidents, and family members of a person who has committed suicide (TIPP, 2010). TIP volunteers truly have a great inner desire to help others. I was greatly impressed by the volunteers and staff I had the opportunity to meet at this ribbon cutting. They are truly special people, and deserve our highest respect for the outstanding services they provide to the citizens of Fresno during emergency situations. Ribbon Cutting for Kebab Express

Today's ribbon cutting at Kebab Express offers and authentic Mediterranean cuisine experience. Located just North West of the Convention Center on the corner of Kern & L Street in the historic Holtel Virginia building, Kebab Express owners Hovig and Hourig Kerkezian brought out a variety of dishes for us to try. Chicken and Beef Kebab were the meat choices, all are marinated with lots of spices and full of flavor with every bite. Then, there's hummus (chickpeas with tahini sauce and lemon served with olive oil and pita bread), Baba Ghanouj (barbecued eggplant with tahini sauce and lemon), Yalanchi (stuffed grape leaves), Taboule (fresh chopped parsley, tomatoes, bulgur wheat mixed with lemon juice and olive oil), Falafel, and Cheese Boreg (cheese stuffed in puff pastry dough and baked). However, my favorite is the Fatoush Salad (mixed greens tossed in lemon juice, olive oil, and pita chips). Their family had inspired them t open up the restaurant after many gathering at their home. Remodel and Expansion for SPCA

The SPCA invited the Fresno Chamber of Commerce to join the celebration as they unveiled the remodel and expansion of the puppy and cattery facility. With the doubling of the site's size and the addition of many more cages, the SPCA provides and inviting experience to view the animals. The new acquaintance room allows people to meet and greet the animals so they can get to know pet's personality in a clean environment. Beth Caffrey at the SPCA says this reduces the rate of returns because people get to know the unique personality of their adopted pets prior to taking them home. With the increasing rate of euthanasia due to the economy ( the average rate per year is 30,000 animals destroyed!), this new site offers an incredible opportunity for people to adopt a new member of the family. Ribbon Cutting Script Life Pharmacy

On January 27th, 2010 the Ambassadors celebrated the addition of Script Life Pharmacy into the Fresno Chamber of Commerce with a Ribbon Cutting. The Ambassadors were also joined by physicians and staff from Peachwood Medical Group who were all very excited to have Script Life Pharmacy as their new neighbor. Script Life Pharmacy has provided printer access to Peachwood Medical Group to help fulfill patient prescriptions. This makes it very convenient for patients and physicians. The physicians enter the prescription and it is directly printed out at Script Life Pharmacy so that the prescription is ready for the patient as soon as they check out and walk over.
The Ambassadors were also given a tour of the facility and learned that they are not only a Full Retail Pharmacy but also offer on-site Compounding. The ability to compound is a unique service that many Pharmacy's do not offer. It's a new beginning for the Fresno Chamber Ambassadors! January marks the first Ambassador meeting of the year. This is always a special meeting as it is the first held by the new co-chairs and secretary who make the executive committee of the Ambassadors. This year Shawna Speake with Valley Business Bank and Marina Haro of Eye-Q Vision have the honor of co-chairing the Ambassador Committee along with Javier Morales with the Fresno Bee as Secretary for the year. We welcome our new leader as we enter the 2010 year! We had a lot of fun at our first meeting; a big thank you was given to Hannah DeGroot of Realty Concepts and Andrew Alverez co-chairs for 2009 and Rene Klaussen of Prudential Secretary for 2009. We sure had fun recapping the Christmas party and even were able to surprise Morel Bagunu of Fashion Fair the Vice Chair of the Membership/Marketing Division for the Fresno Chamber Board with a present from the Christmas party! The Ambassadors busily got to work forming their social committee, Internet marketing committee and retention committees. Ribbon cuttings and Chamber mixers were reviewed and we even had time to share testimonials from our fellow peers. It was a great way to start the New Year.

Ribbon Cutting Western Blue

November 19th marked the official ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Greater Fresno Area Chamber of Commerce of the Mini-Blue store before the grand opening. The unique education-enabling program provides a consumer environment where FUSD employees, students and their families can come to interact with, purchase, and receive service for district-approved HP Mini-Note personal computers. Western Blue is also working to provide additional discounts to students who qualify for the Federal Government's free lunch and other assistance programs at their schools.

Dave Getchell, Director of Business Development for Western Blue's Central Valley Region stated "Some parents are going to look at this and say 'what a great way to get my kid off my home computer', while others will say 'now my child is going to have the first computer in our family."

Unlike a typical retail outlet, the Mini-Blue store is a club. FUSD employees and students simply need their Employee or Student IDs (family members also included) to sign-up. The Club Blue card will allow them to receive the same low prices that FUSD gets when purchasing HP computer equipment. In addition, the Mini=Blue program is a non-profit supporter and will solicit $1 from each customer for the FUSD Educational Scholarship Fund.

The Mini-Blue store came about through the cooperative efforts of FUSD, Western Blue & HP. Formerly, FUSD had purchased 10,000 older generation 2133 Mini-Note PCs from HP, but realized that was still not enough to accommodate the large amount of students who had nominal access to a computer, both at school and at home.

FUSD's Chief Technology Officer, Kurt Madden said "HP began designing Netbooks a year ago with the school district's needs specifically in mind. The price to provide each student with a laptop is definitely prohibitive to the district." Furthermore, he stated, "We believe that if a child is going to survive these days, they have to have the digital learning skills. There are l lot of students out there that have 1-to-1 programs, but for us, with 75,000 students, that's a $20-to-$40 million-dollar price tag to provide that."

Valley Response Magazine held their ribbon cutting at the Daily Grill restaurant in NE Fresno. It was a great combination of information, a gathering of friends and colleagues, and wonderful appetizers. We met in the enclosed patio and the weather was just right for the fire pit which was lit. Kimberly Sherman introduced herself to us as a writer and then introduced Kellie Cooper Editor-in-Chief. This is when everyone got the scoop on Valley Response Magazine. She let us know that Valley Response Magazine is designed to keep people informed about our local "hero's" by celebrating and recognizing local, Public Safety Personnel. The Magazine comes out every other month and the type of stories they publish would be worthwhile to all Fresnans to read. The pictures in the first issue we were able to see were fantastic and one of the photographers David Swann and his wife Susan were on hand to give us some insight on how it is done. After hearing about Valley Response Magazine we all moved inside and were greeted with a table of appetizers. The food was wonderful and the company great. Night Under the Tuscan Stars

Mark your calendars for next year everyone! Night Under the Tuscan Stars is the Fresno Chamber's Annual Fundraising event and what a great time everyone had. The outdoor event is held at the Goss residence in a picturesque backyard. The tables were spread throughout the east portion of the yard while the live and silent auction items were displayed at the west end of the yard. The live auction was quite an event as the items up for auction were in demand. Items ranged from tours of KMJ Talk Radio to coastal get a ways while the silent auction had a myriad of things to catch people's interests. Items included were golf clubs, jewelry, weekend get a ways, gift baskets, landscaping packages, restaurants and more. Dinner was catered by Pardinnis and the food was fabulous. Kristin Valenzuela and Hannah DeGroot sold 50/50 raffle tickets while Shawna Speake and Dale Bierce greeted people at the front. The Ambassadors even had some volunteer bartenders with Mary Pond and Stephanie Olsen. John Wallace did the announcing for the event. He did a great job speaking and kept everyone current about what was happening. Liz Ybarra, D. Adams, Velma Crowley, Dixie Wilson and Melissa Dobson, all of which work at the Chamber were in attendance helping the event run smoothly. Many people from the community were there to enjoy the festivities. Ribbon Cutting at McClelland Law Offices

The Ambassadors were given a warm welcome from Rod McClelland, his family and office staff at the Ribbon Cutting on Sept. 29th. The building had a home feel to it with a beautifully decorated fall pine tree at the main entrance that helped to make you feel at home.

The Ambassadors first gathered in the main conference room where we learned that Rod McClelland attended Fresno State and San Joaquin College of Law and has practiced law since 1995. Rod specializes in employment litigatin, personal injury, wrongful death cases, trusts and wills.

After the Ribbon Cutting, Rod took us on a tour of the building. It is a beautifully designed building inside and out. The interior is very modern in design and was built to maximize office efficiency and space. Rod occupies the main office space in the building which also contains several other office spaces that are occpied by individuals in other areas of business such as finance and insurance.

Ribbon Cutting Hilton Garden Inn

The Ambassadors had a great time at the Ribbon Cutting for the Hilton Garden Inn held on Friday October 16th. The facility is beautiful, warm and incredibly inviting. The breakfast items they had out for buffet looked delicious as well. As we toured the building we were able to see the gym, kitchen, and of course one of the many rooms they offer with complimentary wired and wireless high- speed Internet. We were all impressed at the conveniences the Hilton Garden Inn has for their guests. One thing that caught all of our attention was the Pavilion Lounge. This lounge is set up for Karaoke and bands for the pleasure of the guests and the outside public. Ribbon Cutting San Joaquin Gardens

A packed house celebrated the completion of "The Terraces" at San Joaquin Gardens. This revitalizing renovation of one of Fresno's original upscale senior care facilities that originally opened in 1966 is now reminiscent of the Provence region of France and northern Italy's Tuscany in colors used, garden design and water features. State of the art exercise equipment, swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, a bistro for healthy eating and gathering, beautifully decorated and thoughtfully appointed accommodations would undoubtedly entice folks of any age to want to live there. Everyone in attendance was able to sample the great food coming from the bistro as numerous VIPs in attendance were giving recognition to all responsible for accomplishing this extensive reconstruction. Jeff and Penny Hanning celebrated their 1 year anniversary of full ownership of this business by inviting the Chamber to do a ribbon cutting and by hosting a reception. Also invited were members of the National Kitchen & Bath Association and building contractor customers of Paragon. They provided live blues music from DeJa Blues along with the food and beverages to enhance the party atmosphere. Over 80 guests attended and were treated to a great time.

The business started as a partnership in 2001 and the Hannings bought out their partner a year ago. They specialize in granite and tile work and take pride in their commitment to make every customer a happy customer. They have 20 employees whom they have been able to maintain even during the current downturn due to their diversification in residential remodel, new residential construction, and commercial construction. Approximately half of their business comes from residential remodeling, including direct homeowner business as well as work for remodeling contractors. Ribbon Cutting for The Loft

The ribbon cutting at the Loft in Downtown Fresno was a fun experience for the Fresno Chamber Ambassadors. To begin with, the building at 1060 Fulton Mall formerly the Security Bank building is fabulous, the elevators are stylish in their old world charm and the Bankers Ballroom next door is just a fun appetizer, if you will, to start your experience. Then enter the second floor and turn left. The black doors of the Loft open for you automatically. The doors themselves are a topic of conversation. Once the Ambassadors entered the Loft they were immediately attracted to the styling booths which consisted of different very large mirrors a chair and a supply stand. It was a very clean, streamlined and chic. George Garcia who is one of Redken’s premiere artists opened the Loft June 17 of 2008. According to an article in the Business Street Online "Garcia and his wife Monique, who also works at The Loft, already have big aspirations for the business. Garcia plans to invite people from salons all over to hands-on programs in his salon, with artists in the Redken artist network." The Ambassadors really enjoyed the warmth and sincerity of Monique and George as they talked about their lives and the Loft. The Loft's services include consultations, haircuts for men and women, hair color, highlights, texture services, blow dry and finish, formal finish and conditioning treatments. Ribbon Cutting at the Red Zone

The Red Zone ribbon cutting was a great experience. It was a sportsmen's dream. TV's were everywhere with different sports events broadcasting on each one. The Red Zone also has a menu that won't break the bank with everything from popcorn shrimp and jalapeño poppers to salads, sandwiches, burgers and entrees. We should know as they had supplied us with delicious sliders and garlic fries. They even have a calendar of events such as Taco Tuesday's, Thirsty Thursdays and Soccer Mom Saturdays. Fresno Chamber Mixer- Sandler Training/Clawson Motersports

The July mixer at Clawson Motorsports was a gas. Okay, bad pun but a great mixer. The event was co-sponsored by Clawson Honda and Sandler Training Center Fresno. Being surrounded by an astoundingly huge inventory of some of the world’s finest motorcycles and water sports equipment seemed to create a special energy. The facility itself is a pleasure and Clawson Honda and Clawson Motorsports once again displayed the graciousness, and good taste that make them popular among Fresno Chamber members. The Clawson staff couldn’t have been more welcoming and everyone in attendance seemed to notice. The food and drinks were plentiful and beautifully displayed and a handful of people went home with valuable prizes from one of the free drawings held. Everyone enjoyed the live classical piano of Leonard Heifetz and although some tried to stump him with a request, none succeeded. Although some claim that they attend Chamber mixers to network with other business professionals and expand their business reach; on this night the truth was seen. They come for the food. I don’t know that anyone bought themselves a new 2 wheeled piece of freedom that night but there sure was a lot of touching, pretending, and dreaming happening on the showroom floor. Thank you to all who came out for the fun. Thanks again to Patti Thornton of Clawson Honda and Dale Bierce of Sandler Training Center Fresno. Mixer at Fresno Piano

The mixer at Fresno Piano was a classy event, as we were completely surrounded with some of the most beautiful pianos you can buy in the Central Valley.
Fresno Piano has a long Valley history, with its founding in 1973. There have been many changes in pianos and organs since then, evidenced by the computerized players (remember pumping those huge pedals in the saloon, fellas?) and a 21st century marriage of fine music with karaoke (just ask some of the participants).
While the operation has moved from 8 locations to the 1 original retail location at Ashlan and Fresno, that location has vastly increased its showroom space and even rents warehouse space in Downtown Fresno to accommodate its in-stock offerings – quite impressive.
It was interesting to find out that since Jim Fishback took over operations in 2001, Fresno Piano has expanded its educational offerings with the only authorized Yamaha Music School in the area. The program has over 1 million students enrolled worldwide, and provides piano lessons for all ages. It was a pleasure getting to know the staff and we advise you to get to know them too. The ribbon cutting at Falla's store was very nice. It was very clean and it was easy to find things. The employee's that work there are very friendly and quite helpful. I was surprised that the prices were so low. It was $.99 for colored t-shirts, $2.99 for polo shirts, and $8.99 for dress shirts. The also have women's, youth and children's clothing. All at good prices. It is a store that you can purchase clothes to meet your everyday needs. The Ambassadors enjoyed the ribbon cutting and thank Falla's for putting on a good event. Loretta's Little Miracles had their ribbon cutting on June 17, it was there that the Fresno Chamber Ambassadors learned that they are not a daycare for sick children. Loretta's Little Miracles cares for children who are medically fragile or developmentally disabled. These kids have G-tubes, trachs, seizure disorders, medication administration, spina bifida, hydrocephalus and other medical conditions that require the services of a nurse. In addition, they address the children’s physical and emotional needs since there are often developmental disabilities associated with their medical condition. Loretta's Little Miracles work with each child’s Pediatrician who provides written orders for the daycare nursing staff to follow. While in their care, children are exposed to learning materials, age/ability appropriate activities and interaction with other special needs children. Most importantly, when children attend Loretta's Little Miracles daycare their medical needs are fully met by skilled pediatric professionals.
With custom designed state of the art facilities, Loretta’s Little Miracles serves as a revolutionary approach in fulfilling the daily medical needs of children that are currently not receiving services, being underserved or as an alternative to in home services. We have completed construction on our building and are finishing up with the final details such as curriculum and staffing. We will be opening our doors in the near future and are currently making an effort to inform and educate parents, doctors, teachers, case managers, and support groups that they have another avenue of help and support.
